What does the workshop cover?
Will you learn how to be James Bond? Maybe not. But you will learn how to blend in with the world’s leading business people, using Mannhart’s easy to understand approach to International Business Etiquette. You will look like you belong when you follow the simple rules for eating and table manners, appearance and dress codes, as well as relationships and communication.

Workshop methodology:
We apply the traditional four learning styles (feeling, watching, doing, thinking) combined with accelerated learning techniques and strong personal connections with participants. Reflection, role-play, discussion, demonstration, activities, case studies, problem-solving and lectures feature in our workshops.

Workshop content:

(1) Behavior and Communication: Making first (and lasting) impressions

You only get one chance to make a first impression, so make it a good one! Fierce competition in the business arena means companies want professional people who can behave appropriately in any situation, from the boardroom to the trade show booth. As the old saying goes, "good manners can open doors that money, position or the best education cannot".
In this segment, you will lean practical ideas and strategies that can help you represent yourself and your company on the international stage with a confident and professional image.

This segment includes topics such as:
Punctuality - Introducing yourself and others - Responding to introductions - Handshakes - Eye contact - Body language - Talking - How to politely start and end a conversation - "Safe" small talk topics - Business card etiquette - Telephone/cell phone etiquette - E-mail etiquette - Queuing - Elevator etiquette.

(2) Eating and Table Manners: Delightful dining  when food and business meet

Good boardroom skills are not enough - good dining room skills are just as important, since companies are increasingly placing more importance on making a good impression in any situation. Soup bowl or finger bowl? Noise or silence? Fingers or cutlery? Which fork first?

A person's table manners and knowledge of western dining etiquette can indicate one's level of education, experience and professionalism. An anxious, poorly mannered diner will unlikely have a positive impact on any dining room "deal". In this segment, not only will you learn the etiquette "rules" but also put it into practice during a 4-course western meal paired with a wine tasting.

This segment includes topics such as:
Effective business entertaining - Host and guest duties - Seating etiquette - Navigating the cutlery and place setting - A la carte etiquette (ordering from a western menu) - Buffet etiquette - Body language at the table - Polite behavior in a western restaurant - Continental VS American styles of eating - Napkin etiquette - Toasting - Wine etiquette - Handling accidents - Tipping - The dos and don'ts of western dining.

(3) Appearance: Dress for success

Like it or not, most people believe that "what you see is what you get". It is estimated that you only have between 1 to 7 seconds before another person will make a judgment about you – so what you wear says a lot about who you are and how you want to be perceived. Clothes and grooming are nonverbal codes of communication and in this segment you will learn why dressing too casually or inappropriately can lead to unwelcome consequences if you don't follow the rules. Learn how to make the most out of a neat and attractive outward appearance so people will want to know more about what you have to offer on the inside.

This segment includes topics such as:
What your appearance says about you - Clothing appropriateness for your industry and your company's culture - Decoding invitations & dress codes - Western dress codes (Formal, semiformal, informal) - Business attire VS business casual (and how to wear it well) - Top ten wardrobe mistakes (what not to wear and why) - Essential accessories - Personal hygiene and grooming & The Eti-Kit - Business travel necessities.
